Description

We are seeking a Respiratory Medicine Consultant Physician with a specialization in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and a passion for digital innovation. In this role, you will be instrumental in refining and developing new treatment approaches and care models for COPD, ensuring exceptional clinical outcomes and high levels of patient satisfaction. As Chief Clinical Information Officer (CCIO), you will drive the hospital's digital transformation to support evidence-based care, foster a patient-centered experience, and enable clinical efficiencies.
Key Responsibilities

1. Clinical Leadership in COPD Care & Treatment Innovation

Patient-Centered Care: Provide expert clinical care for patients with COPD, emphasizing personalized, evidence-based treatment approaches that enhance patient outcomes and experience.

Care Model Innovation: Lead the design and implementation of new COPD care models, integrating digital tools, remote monitoring, and patient self-management strategies to improve disease management and satisfaction.

Clinical Pathway Innovation: Lead the design and implementation of COPD clinical treatment pathways to improve disease management, enhance patient personalisation, wellbeing and support of patients around their treatments

Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate complex COPD cases, ensuring seamless, patient-centered care.

Clinical Research & Innovation: Engage in or lead clinical research focused on COPD, advancing new treatments and approaches that can be integrated into patient care.

Education & Mentorship: Provide training and mentorship to junior clinicians and staff in advanced COPD management, fostering a learning environment that supports professional development and clinical excellence.

2. Chief Clinical Information Officer (CCIO) – Digital Strategy & Innovation

Digital Health Strategy: Shape and execute the hospital’s digital health strategy, focusing on solutions that support enhanced COPD care, operational efficiency, and patient engagement.

Technology & System Optimization: Oversee the optimization of clinical information systems, including EHRs, decision support, and remote monitoring tools, ensuring they meet clinical needs and streamline workflows for COPD care.

Patient Engagement & Satisfaction: Champion digital tools that promote patient engagement and satisfaction, such as self-monitoring apps, telemedicine, and health education platforms, particularly for COPD patients.

Data-Driven Care & Analytics: Use clinical data and analytics to support continuous improvement, assessing COPD treatment outcomes, patient satisfaction, and areas for further innovation.

Change Leadership: Facilitate the adoption of digital health technologies within clinical teams, ensuring staff training, support, and a positive shift toward technology-enabled care.

Compliance & Data Security: Ensure clinical information systems meet legal, ethical, and regulatory standards, particularly regarding patient data protection and security.

3. Strategic Development & Operational Contributions

Collaborative Partnerships: Work closely with hospital leadership, IT, and clinical teams to ensure digital and clinical initiatives align with overall hospital goals and industry best practices.

Resource & Budget Management: Participate in budgeting and resource allocation for respiratory care and digital health solutions, supporting cost-effective, sustainable innovation.

Policy Development: Assist in creating policies that support new care models, digital health use, and COPD management protocols.

Performance Monitoring: Establish key performance indicators for COPD care delivery, digital adoption, and patient satisfaction, regularly monitoring and reporting progress to leadership.

Thought Leadership: Act as a spokesperson for the hospital’s digital and COPD care initiatives at conferences, professional associations, and industry events, positioning the hospital as a leader in respiratory care innovation.

Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with executive leadership, external partners, and key stakeholders to drive innovative strategies and align efforts to advance COPD care and digital health.

Continuous Improvement: Lead or support initiatives aimed at continuous quality improvement in both COPD care and the hospital’s digital health landscape, championing practices that reduce clinician workload and enhance patient outcomes.

Qualifications & Experience
​

Medical Degree (MBBS/MD) with full GMC registration and recognized specialization in Respiratory Medicine.

Consultant-Level Experience in managing COPD, with proven expertise in complex respiratory care and innovative treatment approaches.

Experience in Clinical Informatics or Health IT, with a background in digital health and clinical information systems.

Advanced Degree or Certification in Health Informatics (preferred).

Strong leadership skills with a track record of fostering digital innovation and enhancing patient care through technology.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to drive change and engage with both clinical and IT teams effectively.
